Contemporary and sustainable design thrives on Grand Avenue, where for one autumn weekend the best local makers and collectors of design objects will open house and pop-up shop in an aesthetic marketplace. Vintage and antique objects find their afterlife amongst environmentally conscious and modern goods handcrafted by top Chicago designers.

Produced by the West Town Chamber of Commerce and a planning committee of local design business owners, Design Harvest is in it’s fourth successful year of operation. This unique and aesthetically pleasing festival continues to grow in popularity and features home and garden design from local and national vendors and showcases the brick and mortar design shops within the burgeoning Grand Avenue Design District in West Town Chicago.

Besides perusing the participating designer’s vignettes in an all-new upgraded large designer tent, fest-goers may sip sponsoring wine and craft beer, enjoy food from local restaurant vendors, grab a seat on a hay bale and listen to live music on the WXRT sponsored stage programmed by the legendary Chicago music venue The Hideout.

New to 2014 will be a tie-in to media sponsor Chicago Magazine’s Chairs for Charity auction on Friday, September 19th at eurofurniture in the Grand Avenue design district. More details TBA. This years event will focus more on the designers and offer a seminar tent with interactive design activities, consultations, design seminars and demonstrations.

Each year Design Harvest has garnered a massive amount of positive press, alluding to the event’s solid good vibe and promise.  According to Time Out Chicago, “Grand Avenue’s former factory and warehouse corridor really looked handsome. Like a hayride for the Wallpaper set, Design Harvest was an unlikely combination that came off perfectly natural. We predict it’ll be back and bigger {next year}.”

Design Harvest is a curated exhibition and vendors are hand selected by the producers and a jury of design experts. The high quality vendors create vignettes inside a large scale tents. The crowd drawn to the event is sophisticated and there to peruse and shop for high end home and garden design and accessories in the tent and in the surrounding design oriented retail stores. The event is also family friendly with art activities for kids and hay rides to Christy Webber Farm & Garden Center’s Fall Festival.
