The West Town Chamber of Commerce along with Post 27 are proud to present Design Harvest, a new annual street festival for Chicago. This one of a kind fest will feature Chicago's best local furniture and home accessory makers, vintage and antique collectors, and local retailers of the home design industry.
Also, celebrity designer Nate Berkus has teamed up exclusively with Design Harvest this year to ‘Paint it Forward.’ For a $10 donation, benefiting a cosmetic makeover of the cafeteria at neighboring Talcott Elementary School, Nate’s team will select a room color(s) that pairs best with your interior. The rules are simple: guests need to bring a photo of their home to Design Harvest, then will have two minutes (per room) to speak with members of Nate Berkus’ on-site expert staff to determine two viable paint options (appearance by Nate himself is not confirmed). For only $10, you could say your home color motif was chosen personally by Nate Berkus team and you Painted it forward!
A•Muse welcomes Design Harvest visitors of all ages, especially children, to their art party on site. With wet and more precise media, they'll loosen up in drawing, and then learn to abstract their artwork into a pattern. Those who wish to continue in the studio may develop their patterns into silkscreen prints.
Between perusing design vendors or making art, fest-goers can enjoy family hay rides or stroll hand-in-hand enjoying delicious food including savory offerings from: Cevapcici, Mana, Big Delicious Planet, Swim Cafe and Intelligentsia (serving freshly brewed coffee). Plus, Design Harvest features a number of food trucks, including: Gaztro-Wagon with uber-popular Matt Maroni (Sat. & Sun. 2-5pm only), Tamale Spaceship (excellent tamales and servers in Mexican wrestling masks - Sat. & Sun. 11am-8pm), Hummingbird Kitchen, Culture Yogurt Society, and Sweet Miss Givings (serving up delicious cupcakes and desserts for charity - Sat.& Sun. 12-3pm only).
Helping set the mood again is the live musical entertainment area, programmed by Chicago’s legendary live music venue, The Hideout. Califone headlines on Saturday night and back by popular demand, the Golden Horse Ranch Square Dance Band will cap off the fest again with another giant public square dance this year on Sunday evening.
A rain or shine event, vendors will be housed under very large tents which also shelter patrons.
